I am the eldest child of Constable Walter McMillan who was killed on duty 50 years ago on Burns night. I miss him every day and was delighted when my youngest daughter, Rebecca, told me about this site today. Now that I know of the Memorial I intend to visit it as soon as possible and take his children and grandchildren if possible. Thank you to the trustees. I thought I was the only person to remember him. Thanks again.

As Cumbria Constabulary mourns the loss of a brave Police Officer during the horrendous rain storms, may I say Thank You to all Lothian & Borders Police - who daily take a risk on our behalf. I often post notes thanking our Armed Forces, to say thank you to a police officer is not that difficult, and just doesn't seem enough for what they do. God Bless them all, and our sincere condolences to the family of PC Bill Barker & Cumbria Constabulary.

What a privilege it was to see my Grandfather's name - Sgt James Whamond MM, on the Memorial. Thank you.

Thank you for providing information on my great great grandfather Donald Anderson who died in 1875. I knew that he was a Police Constable but had been unable to find out any more information.

In memory of all officers, esp Scottish ones, who were murdered in the execution of their duty.
This particular day has a profound impact on me even after all these years.
Ross Hunt was to be remembered by a childrens ward at Stonehouse Hospital but I believe that has now closed.
At least we have this memorial like the ones for the D-Day veterans who paid the same premium.
Well done to those responsible for this excellent memorial.

I have just found this web site triggered by the latest murder of the Northern Ireland Police Officer.Jim McNulty,Derek Leitch and Ross Hunt.I worked with them all.I received a get well card from Mr and Mrs George Taylor in 1983. My "Onion Field" was a street in Larkhall in 1983 and had it not been for the Late Sgt Alan Riddell and Sister Blackie and her staff that morning my name would be on this list too.My life changed that night and there was no COPS.Loyal family and friends saw me through.

I have just found out that my father, Inspector Duncan Macfarlane, is on this memorial and I am delighted that there is recognition for all the officers listed.I think the memorial looks beautiful and I look forward to seeing it very soon.
